Doublesided Kilim Boucherouite S13
This kilim boucherouite is an example of native tribal art from Morocco. In recent decades, artisans have been using recycled materials and leftover textile scraps to create new and interesting rug designs. This doublesided rug in beautiful shades of teal, purple and brown will brighten up any living space.
- flatwoven recycled rug
- unique piece, there are no two similar in this world
- originated from the creative mind of a berber lady
- made entirely from cotton = 100% boucherouite - pieces of cut cotton clothing (recycled) are woven into a cotton base
- the rug can be turned around; it's tightly woven doublesided
- ca 1m75 x 1m10
- main colors: teal, purple, pink, turquoise and brown
During my purchasing trips to Morocco I always look for beautiful, unique pieces that fit nicely within our concept. I work with trustworthy suppliers who provide work to hundreds of women in the mountain areas. And I bid with the local merchants on the criée berbère of the carpet souks in the heart of Marrakech, skipping most intermediate channels!
Each rug is hand washed and (if necessary) repaired in Morocco before being shipped to Belgium. Any restorations were done by hand by skilled artisans in the traditional methods and with materials to best suit its origins.
Rugs should be vacuumed regularly, and occasionally hung outside in the sunshine and fresh air to freshen them up and get rid of any loose dirt. We recommend only ever using mild soapy water to spot clean your carpet. Chemical cleaners and vintage textiles are definitely not friends - so keep cleaning simple and to the basics.
If your rug is in need of a deeper clean due to spills or wear, contact a professional rug cleaning service in your area.
Due to their handwoven and unique nature - irregularities in shape and colour can be expected, and are what add to their beauty, character and value.
