Marco Polo Glass
In the 13th century the Venetian explorer Marco Polo introduced Asia to Europe. He travelled from Venice, followed the Silkroute and ended up in Cathay, which is now known as China. Here he discovered interesting habits, high civilisation and impressive wealth which lead Marco Polo to trade with China, centuries later we still do. Nowadays we often associate China with mass produced goods but beautiful things still come from this impressive country, for example VAN VERREs Marco Polo glassware.
The Marco Polo Glass follows the route of the famous explorer. The Italian design has travelled to East Asia where in Chinese Ateliers the glowing glass is mouthblown into handmade moulds and shaped into sturdy colourful glasses and bowls. The lively bubbles inside the glass, sturdy design and the origin of the glassware make it an exciting and unique addition to the collection.
Marco Polo glass is available in six colours and two models that perfectly match the well-known Fleur de Lys glassware and Bordallo earthware. With the different colours, designs and models of these three lines you can endlessly create new and inspiring collections.
